Abstract

A recent report from researchers at the University of California Davis discusses the use of opioids and the potential for reducing drug-seeking behavior. The study focused on the role of arrestin-3, a protein involved in opioid receptor activation, and its impact on compulsive drug-seeking. The researchers found that mice lacking arrestin-3 did not show reduced drug-seeking behavior, suggesting that its absence does not protect against the abuse liability of opioids. The study suggests that opioids that engage both G protein and arrestin-3 may reduce abuse liability. [Extracted from the article]
