Abstract

A recent study conducted by researchers at the George Washington School of Medicine and Health Sciences has found that oral tranexamic acid (TXA) is a safe and effective treatment for postinflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH). PIH is a skin disorder characterized by abnormal and excessive pigment deposition resulting from inflammation and damage to the skin. The study reviewed relevant articles from 2000 to the present and found that all studies demonstrated significant improvement in PIH without significant adverse effects. This research suggests that oral TXA could be used for both prevention and treatment of PIH. [Extracted from the article]
