Abstract
- Understanding variables has been extensively discussed in Mathematics Education research (Moreno, L. and Santillán, M. A., 2002; N. Bednarz, C. Kieran, and L.Lee (eds), 1996; R. Sutherland, T. Rojano, A.Bell and R.Lins (eds) 2001). Operating the unknown and operating the variable are quite different activities, mainly for a beginner student. In just one problem, it is feasible that variables exhibit all their complexity becoming an obstacle beyond students’ present abilities. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
