Abstract
- A recent study conducted at the L.V. Prasad Eye Institute in India compared the functional outcome and quality of life (QOL) index of patients who underwent non-endoscopic endonasal dacryocystorhinostomy (NEN-DCR) versus external dacryocystorhinostomy (EXT-DCR) for primary nasolacrimal duct obstruction. The study found that both procedures resulted in rapid and marked improvement in functional outcome and QOL index after surgery. While NEN-DCR showed slightly better results on the first postoperative day, the outcomes were comparable to EXT-DCR thereafter. The study suggests that both procedures are effective in improving patient outcomes. [Extracted from the article]
