Abstract
- Researchers from the University of Copenhagen have developed a cost-effective method for isolating functional human monocarboxylate transporters (hMCTs) using a whole-cell Saccharomyces cerevisiae-based system. hMCTs are responsible for the transport of various metabolites in the body. The researchers were able to successfully produce three hMCTs, hMCT1, hMCT4, and hMCT10, which can be used for further structural and functional characterization. This study demonstrates the potential of this platform for delivering physiologically relevant membrane proteins for biophysical studies. [Extracted from the article]
