Abstract
- A recent study conducted by the Chinese Academy of Sciences in Fujian, People's Republic of China, has revealed new findings on quantum dots and their potential use in phototherapy for malignant tumors. The researchers developed a novel near-infrared circularly polarized light-responsive hybrid quantum dot hydrogel that demonstrated enhanced tumor retention and superior photothermal/photodynamic properties. The quantum dot hydrogel exhibited improved photothermal conversion efficiency and elevated reactive oxygen species production when exposed to circularly polarized light. The study highlights the importance of supramolecular chirality in near-infrared circularly polarized light-mediated phototherapy and suggests a new avenue for more advanced and effective tumor treatment.
