Abstract

A recent study conducted by Leiden University Medical Center in the Netherlands explored the use of prophylactic radiologic interventions to reduce perioperative blood loss during cesarean delivery in women with placenta accreta spectrum disorder. The study involved a systematic review and network meta-analysis of 50 studies, including a total of 5,962 women. The findings suggest that the prophylactic placement of balloon catheters or sheaths before planned cesarean delivery may significantly reduce perioperative blood loss in some cases. However, further research is needed to determine the efficacy and safety of these interventions for different severities of placenta accreta spectrum disorder. [Extracted from the article]
