Abstract

A recent study conducted by researchers at Showa University in Tokyo, Japan, explored the role of aquaporin 1 (AQP1) in heatstroke-induced hepatic damage. The study used transgenic mice with upregulated Aqp1 in endothelial cells and exposed them to high ambient temperature and humidity. The researchers found that the mice with upregulated Aqp1 showed exacerbated hepatic damage compared to wild-type mice. This study suggests that endothelial AQP1 may contribute to hepatic damage after heatstroke. Further research is needed to fully understand the mechanisms involved. [Extracted from the article]
