Abstract
- A study conducted at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, explored the long-term outcomes of percutaneous ethanol ablation as a treatment for papillary thyroid carcinoma in the lateral neck. The study found that percutaneous ethanol ablation may be a safe primary treatment for selected patients with low-volume nodal disease. The research involved a retrospective study of 117 patients who underwent percutaneous ethanol ablation for papillary thyroid carcinoma lateral neck metastases. The study found that there was no significant difference in recurrence rates between patients who underwent pre-percutaneous ethanol ablation lateral neck dissection and those who did not.
