Abstract
- A study conducted by the University of Florence in Italy aimed to assess the rate of successful outcomes following holmium laser enucleation of the prostate (HoLEP) and identify predictors of failure. The study defined "Trifecta" as the presence of no postoperative complications within 3 months, no urinary incontinence at 3-month follow-up, and a 3-month postoperative max flow-rate greater than 15 mL/s. Out of 305 patients included in the study, 63.0% achieved Trifecta. Predictors of Trifecta failure were found to be a post-void residual (PVR) greater than or equal to 250 mL, the first surgical era, and the standard three-lobes enucleation technique. The study concluded that surgical strategy, experience, and baseline PVR are important factors in predicting outcomes. [Extracted from the article]
