Abstract

A study conducted at Fukuoka Wajiro Hospital in Japan investigated the difficulties encountered when using a 7-F Optimo balloon guide catheter (BGC) for carotid artery stenting. The researchers found that navigating the BGC became challenging when the height from the topmost point of the subclavian artery (SA) to the origin of the SA was greater than 34 mm and the angle between the SA and the common carotid artery (CCA) was less than 30 degrees. The study concluded that transradial carotid artery stenting using the 7-F Optimo BGC is generally safe, but certain anatomical factors can make the procedure more difficult.
