Abstract

A recent study conducted at the University of Pittsburgh has provided new insights into the field of Life Science. The study focused on the activation of epithelial Na+ channels (ENaCs) and the role of proteolysis of the alpha subunit in this process. The researchers found that disrupting alpha subunit proteolysis impaired ENaC activity in vivo, but compensation occurred in response to sodium restriction. The study was supported by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and has been peer-reviewed.
