Abstract
- A study conducted by researchers at the University of Quebec Montreal explores the relationship between sleep patterns, interpersonal violence victimization, and mental health in adolescent girls. The study found that interpersonal violence victimization is highly prevalent among youth and is associated with various difficulties, including mental, physical, and behavioral issues. The researchers identified three classes of sleep quality (poor, moderate, and high) and found that exposure to community violence was associated with dissociation only among girls in the poor-quality sleep class. The study emphasizes the need to understand the interplay between interpersonal violence and sleep quality to inform trauma-focused clinical interventions. Universal prevention campaigns to reduce interpersonal violence and promote positive relationships are also recommended. [Extracted from the article]
