Abstract

Researchers from the Cognitive Computational Neuroscience Group at Friedrich-Alexander-Universitat Erlangen-Nurnberg (FAU) have used artificial intelligence (AI) to gain insights into how the human brain works. By analyzing the spontaneous activity of the brain using AI, the researchers discovered that certain spontaneous activities known as local field potential events (LFPs) play a role in how the brain processes information, even in the absence of external stimuli. These findings could lead to new avenues for research and improved methods for diagnosing and treating brain diseases. The study also highlights the reciprocal relationship between AI and brain research, with the potential for AI systems to continuously make predictions based on neuroscience principles.
