Abstract

A recent study conducted by researchers at Selcuk University Faculty of Medicine focused on the ocular involvement in patients with infantile nephropathic cystinosis. Cystinosis is a rare genetic disease that affects the lysosomes and is associated with high mortality and morbidity rates. The study used optical coherence tomography (OCT) and in vivo confocal microscopy (IVCM) to assess the ocular manifestations of cystinosis in four patients. The findings revealed various crystal deposits in the cornea, retina, and other ocular structures, highlighting the importance of early detection and management of ocular complications in patients with cystinosis.
