Abstract

A recent report from Southern Medical University in Shenzhen, China discusses a rare case of a mixed thyrotropin-secreting pituitary neuroendocrine tumor (PitNET) coexisting with Graves' disease (GD). The patient, a 36-year-old male, presented with elevated levels of thyroid hormones and insulin-like growth factor 1, but a non-suppressed thyroid-stimulating hormone level. The patient underwent surgery to remove the pituitary tumor and was subsequently treated for hyperthyroidism. The study highlights the importance of considering the coexistence of PitNETs and GD to avoid potential risks of treatment-induced tumor progression. [Extracted from the article]
