Abstract

The article discusses a legal case that highlights the importance of considering the social model of disability in addition to the medical model. It examines the potential disparate treatment of disabled individuals with addictions compared to other groups and emphasizes the need to eliminate barriers that prevent full integration. The case in question involves a university's duty to protect its students from foreseeable harm, specifically in relation to a sexual assault that occurred off-campus. The court ruled that the university's duty is limited to on-campus and university-controlled activities. The dissenting opinion argued for a broader duty to protect students beyond the geographical boundaries of the campus. [Extracted from the article]
