Abstract
- A patent application has been submitted for a new method of determining long-term heart rates from wearable cardioverter defibrillator (WCD) systems. The WCD system includes a harness or garment with electronic components, such as a defibrillator and electrodes, that monitor the patient's electrocardiogram (ECG). The new method involves analyzing the stored ECG signal to assist in long-term heart rate monitoring, using special filtering techniques to remove short-term variations and indication techniques to indicate when the ECG signal is unreliable. The patent application was filed by inventors from Washington and the assignee is West Affum Holdings Dac in Dublin, Ireland. [Extracted from the article]
