Abstract

A study conducted by Xinjiang Medical University in Urumqi, People's Republic of China, examined the clinical efficiency of anatomical hepatectomy in the treatment of hepatic cystic echinococcosis (CE). The study analyzed the data of 74 patients who underwent anatomical hepatectomy and were classified into different groups based on the severity of the disease. The results showed that anatomical hepatectomy was an effective and feasible surgical procedure for patients with severe invasion of intrahepatic biliary ducts and vessels or those with large lesions occupying one hepatic lobe. The study also found that the procedure helped avoid complications related to residual cavities. [Extracted from the article]
