Abstract

A study conducted at Chongqing Medical University in China compared the effects of two different local anesthetics, lidocaine with adrenaline and articaine with adrenaline, in endoscopic endonasal dacryocystorhinostomy (EN-DCR) surgery. The study included 180 patients and found that the group receiving articaine had lower pain scores, higher anesthesia efficacy, and less nasal mucosal bleeding compared to the lidocaine group. However, there were no significant differences in changes in blood pressure and heart rate between the two groups. The study concluded that articaine was more effective than lidocaine in EN-DCR surgery. [Extracted from the article]
