Abstract
- A recent study conducted by researchers at Xinjiang Medical University in Urumqi, China, explored the role of M2-like tumor-associated macrophages (M2-TAM) and long intergenic noncoding RNA 00161 (LINC00161) in the progression of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), a type of liver cancer. The study found that M2-TAM stimulated the transcription and expression of LINC00161 in HCC cells, which in turn suppressed the expression of HACE1, a gene involved in tumor suppression. The researchers also observed a binding relationship between LINC00161 and EZH2, a protein that promotes gene methylation. The study highlights the significant involvement of LINC00161 in the development and progression of HCC. [Extracted from the article]
