Abstract

A study conducted by the Department of Mechanical Engineering in Bhagalpur, India, explored the use of silicon dioxide nanoparticles in dental composites. The researchers found that the addition of 10 weight-% of these nanoparticles improved the mechanical and viscoelastic properties of the composites, increasing micro-hardness by 126.1%, compressive strength by 7.6%, and flexural strength by 28.8%. However, physical properties such as void content and water sorption were increased by 10% and 25% respectively. The study was peer-reviewed and provides valuable insights into the potential benefits of using nanoparticles in dental materials. [Extracted from the article]
