A recent study conducted by researchers at the University of Coimbra in Portugal explores the role of brain endothelial cell (BEC) senescence in the dysfunction of the blood-brain barrier (BBB) during aging. The study suggests that the transition from a young to an aged BBB is mediated, at least in part, by BEC senescence.
