Abstract
- A recent study conducted at the University of Colorado in Boulder explores the use of a combination of chemical and mechanical methods to enhance tumor immunomodulation. The researchers engineered nanoparticles to encapsulate an immunomodulator and used high-intensity focused ultrasound to release the nanoparticles and stimulate macrophages. The study found that this combination approach resulted in increased cancer cell death and a shift towards an inflammatory phenotype in tumor-associated macrophages. The researchers suggest that this approach shows promise for treating immunologically cold tumors. [Extracted from the article]
