Abstract

A study conducted by researchers at Majmaah University in Saudi Arabia focused on the prevalence and antimicrobial mechanism of carbapenem-resistant Klebsiella pneumoniae (CRKP). The study found that CRKP poses a serious threat to public health, as carbapenems are often used as a last resort to treat K. pneumoniae infections. The researchers collected samples from various clinical specimens and isolated K. pneumoniae strains. The strains exhibited multi-drug resistance and were non-susceptible to several antibiotics. The study emphasizes the need for continuous monitoring of drug-resistance genes to inform policy decisions. [Extracted from the article]
