Abstract

A new report discusses research findings on Monocytosis, a condition characterized by an abnormal increase in monocytes in the blood. The World Health Organization (WHO) and the International Consensus Classification (ICC) of 2022 introduced changes to the classification of chronic myelomonocytic leukemia (CMML). The study analyzed a large number of CMML cases and found that the new classification systems resulted in the reclassification of some cases as myelodysplastic CMML. Despite differences in genetic and molecular profiles, no differences in overall survival were observed between the newly classified and established CMML cases. This study provides a comprehensive analysis of CMML cases and places the newly classified cases between myelodysplastic syndrome and previously established CMML. [Extracted from the article]
