Abstract

A recent study conducted at Banner - University Medical Center in Phoenix, Arizona, focused on the treatment of colloid cysts, which are nonneoplastic epithelial lesions in the brain. The study compared the traditional microsurgical approach to the newer endoscopic approach and found that the endoscopic approach offers advantages such as shorter operative time, faster recovery, and a more anterolateral approach. The study also demonstrated an endoscopic resection of a recurrent colloid cyst using a bimanual technique through parallel channels in a ventriculoscope. The research concluded that preserving both vascular and neural structures during the procedure is critical. [Extracted from the article]
