Abstract

A recent study conducted by researchers at the University of Oslo explored the knowledge, attitudes, and perceptions of maternity care providers in three public hospitals in Buenos Aires, Argentina, regarding the use of calcium supplements during pregnancy for the prevention of preeclampsia. The study found that the providers' knowledge, attitudes, and practices regarding calcium supplementation were influenced by barriers to implementation. The researchers recommended that the government provide free calcium supplements and offer training to healthcare providers to ensure the adoption of calcium supplementation in antenatal care. Future studies should also assess the perceptions of pregnant women and policymakers and evaluate the local infrastructure for providing free calcium supplements. [Extracted from the article]
