Abstract

A study conducted by MacEwan University examined the impact of political democracy on cancer risk in 170 countries. Contrary to expectations, the overall incidence of cancer was not lower in democratic countries. However, among children and adolescents, cancer mortality rates and leukemia incidence were lower in democratic countries in some models. The study suggests that economic policy may be an important consideration for preventing cancer. It is important to note that longitudinal analysis was not possible for these data, which should be taken into account when interpreting the findings. [Extracted from the article]
