Abstract

A recent study conducted by researchers at Uppsala University in Sweden explores the organization of stone tool production, technology, raw material use, social interaction, communication, and mobility in hunter-gatherer societies. The study focuses on the production, durability, efficiency, and repairability of Mesolithic slotted bone points used as hunting weapons. Additionally, the researchers evaluate the function of different locally available lithic materials and examine the raw material use from 51 excavated Mesolithic sites. The findings shed light on the circulation and use of lithic tools and raw materials within prehistoric landscapes. This research has been peer-reviewed and published in the Journal of Archaeological Science Reports. [Extracted from the article]
