Abstract
- A recent study conducted by McGill University in Montreal, Canada examined the utilization and surgical outcomes of sentinel lymph node (SLN) biopsy in patients with endometrial intraepithelial neoplasia (EIN). The study found that the rate of SLN biopsy has steadily increased over time, with a higher proportion of patients undergoing the procedure in more recent years. The study also found that SLN biopsy was associated with a longer operative time and a slightly increased risk of venous thromboembolism. However, the performance of SLN biopsy was not associated with any other complications. Overall, the study suggests that SLN biopsy for EIN is becoming more common and is generally safe, but may carry a small risk of venous thromboembolism. [Extracted from the article]
