Abstract

A recent study conducted by researchers at Macau University of Science and Technology explored the potential anticancer effects of a chalcone derivative called SBD-2 on colorectal cancer (CRC) cells. The study found that SBD-2 inhibited the proliferation of CRC cells, induced apoptosis, and arrested the cell cycle. These effects were attributed to the inhibition of the Akt pathway, which led to the suppression of anti-apoptotic protein Bcl-2 and cell cycle regulator Cyclin B1. The findings suggest that SBD-2 could be developed as a new agent for CRC treatment. [Extracted from the article]
