Abstract

A research study conducted by the Oswaldo Cruz Institute (FIOCRUZ) in Brazil has examined the impact of rabies on herbivores, particularly cattle, horses, and goats. The study highlights the economic burden and health risks associated with herbivorous rabies, emphasizing the need for effective strategies to control the disease. Vaccination campaigns, public awareness programs, and enhanced surveillance systems are recommended as key measures to mitigate the impact of rabies on livestock and public health. The study concludes that investing in rabies vaccination and control measures not only protects livestock but also reduces human cases and strengthens the sustainability of the livestock industry.
