Abstract
- A recent study conducted by Genentech Inc. has explored the use of deep neural nets to map image features to gene expression, specifically in relation to biomarkers. The study introduces MOSBY (Multi-Omic translation of whole slide images for Spatial Biomarker discoverY), a model that extracts improved image features and learns a mapping between image and bulk omic profiles. MOSBY has been validated with spatial transcriptomic and CD8 IHC image data, and has demonstrated the ability to identify and validate clinically relevant spatial biomarkers. The study highlights the potential of MOSBY in unraveling novel insights in cancer biology and informing clinical decision-making. [Extracted from the article]
