Abstract
- A recent study conducted by researchers at the Veterans Health Administration (VHA) examined the rates and correlates of lifetime screening for hepatitis B (HBV) and hepatitis C (HCV) infections among low-income US veterans. The study found that fewer than one-third of low-income veterans had ever been screened for HBV or HCV, with lower screening rates among those less likely to be exposed to viral hepatitis. The research highlights the need for interventions to promote screening, treatment, and vaccinations for HBV and HCV among this population. The study was supported by the US Department of Veterans Affairs and has been peer-reviewed. [Extracted from the article]
