Abstract
- A study conducted in Mongolia has found that cystic echinococcosis (CE), a parasitic infection caused by Echinococcus granulosus, is significantly underreported in the country. The researchers collected data on surgical cases and newly diagnosed cases of CE and found that surgical cases represented only one-eighth of the diagnosed cases. The study highlights the need for improved diagnostics, clinical management, and surveillance of CE in Mongolia, particularly in remote areas. The researchers urge policymakers and health experts to invest in combating CE and emphasize the importance of standard clinical management and reporting mechanisms. [Extracted from the article]
