Abstract

Researchers from Taipei Medical University conducted a study to investigate the regression process of ostium granulomas after primary endoscopic dacryocystorhinostomy (DCR) using intranasal steroids. They retrospectively reviewed 57 patients with ostium granulomas between 2011 and 2015. The study found that the granulomas completely disappeared in 95.8% of cases, with an average time interval of 6.9 months. The usage of intranasal steroids helped avoid surgical manipulation of the granulomas and improved patient satisfaction. The findings suggest that continuing the usage of intranasal steroids can lead to the gradual disappearance of ostium granulomas. [Extracted from the article]
