Abstract

A recent study conducted at Shyam Shah Medical College in Madhya Pradesh, India, investigated the effects of submucosal administration of dexamethasone on postoperative discomfort after third molar surgery. The study involved 60 patients who were randomly divided into two groups, with one group receiving a submucosal injection of dexamethasone and the other group serving as a control. The researchers found that the administration of dexamethasone resulted in significantly less postoperative swelling and trismus (difficulty in opening the mouth), as well as better quality of life outcomes. The study suggests that submucosal dexamethasone may be an effective intervention for reducing discomfort after third molar surgery. [Extracted from the article]
