Abstract
- A study conducted at the Second Affiliated Hospital of Anhui Medical University compared the effects of ephedrine and phenylephrine on the incidence of postoperative delirium (POD) in older adults undergoing knee arthroplasty. The study found that the incidence of POD on the first day after surgery was lower in the ephedrine group compared to the phenylephrine group. However, there was no significant difference in the incidence of POD between the two groups on the second and third postoperative days. The ephedrine group also experienced significantly greater cardiac output and regional cerebral oxygen saturation compared to the phenylephrine group. The study provides valuable insights into the effects of these medications on POD in older adults. [Extracted from the article]
