Abstract

Researchers at Southwest Forestry University in Kunming, China have discovered two new aromatic compounds, gastupdin A and gastupdin B, along with three known compounds, arundin, phomosines B, and monocillin IV, in the aerial parts of Gastrodia elata Blume. The structures of the new compounds were confirmed through various spectral analyses. The compounds were evaluated for their neuroprotective effects but were found to be weaker than the positive control, curcumin, and showed no significant activity. This research has been peer-reviewed and published in Natural Product Research. [Extracted from the article]
