Abstract

Researchers from the Medical University of Plovdiv in Bulgaria have conducted a study on membranous nephropathy (MN), a kidney disease. The study aimed to differentiate between primary and secondary forms of MN, which is crucial for determining appropriate treatment options. The researchers found that the lack of mannose-binding lectin (MBL) deposition can be used as a marker for secondary MN in the early stages of the disease. However, IgG4 deposition, another biomarker, was present in both primary and secondary MNs. This research provides valuable insights into the diagnosis and management of MN.
