Abstract

A recent study conducted by researchers at the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences focused on the effects of chronic intermittent hypoxia (CIH) on the hypothalamus and endocrine metabolism. The study utilized liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry to analyze the lysine acetylome and proteome of the hypothalamus in infantile mice exposed to CIH. The researchers found disruptions in endocrine metabolism, the citrate cycle, synapse function, and circadian entrainment, as well as down-regulation of proteins involved in endocrine hormone secretion. This study provides valuable insights into the molecular mechanisms underlying CIH-induced alterations in protein acetylation and contributes to a deeper understanding of the consequences of CIH on hypothalamic function and endocrine impairment.
