Abstract

Researchers from the Military Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology in Warsaw, Poland have conducted a study on the antiviral activity of Kalanchoe daigremontiana extract against human herpesvirus type 1 (HHV-1). The extract was found to have virucidal properties and was able to prevent HHV-1 infection by inhibiting virus attachment, penetration, and blocking infection. The researchers suggest that Kalanchoe daigremontiana extract could be a potential candidate for the treatment of HHV-1 infection, either alone or in combination with other therapeutics. Further research is needed to explore its clinical potential. [Extracted from the article]
