Abstract
- A new report from Zhejiang Gongshang University in Hangzhou, China, explores the use of artificial saliva for relieving xerostomia, or dry mouth. The study focuses on the thickening, lubricating, and wetting capabilities of sodium hyaluronate (SH) compared to other commonly used thickening agents. The research found that SH demonstrated efficient moistening and lubrication properties, making it a potential component for high-performance artificial saliva. This study provides valuable insights into the development of improved treatments for xerostomia, which is a growing concern, particularly among elderly populations. [Extracted from the article]
