Influence of Culture on Knowledge Sharing in a Cross-cultural Working Environment.

Purpose: The aim of this research is to analyze the influence of national culture on knowledge sharing and to suggest the managers and practitioners how to manage the knowledge sharing effectively and efficiently in culturally diversified organizations. Methodology/Approach: Basically, this research is part of the PhD research dissertation of the author. The research was conducted through qualitative content analysis of research articles on the subject matter. Findings: The results revealed that national culture draws significant influence on sharing of knowledge. Members of different societies show different types of behaviors, trends and tendencies toward KS. Apart from cultural differences, language differences and translation issues also create several problems in the process of knowledge sharing, making it complicated for both sharers as well receivers of the knowledge. Implications/Originality/Value: This research offers key thoughts and implication for the managers and practitioners, to know the issues, difficulties, complications and delicacies of cross-cultural knowledge sharing. The author has also suggested valuable recommendations at the end, for the effective management of knowledge sharing in a cross-cultural working environment.
