A recent study conducted at the University of Verona in Italy compared two sodium hyaluronate-based ophthalmical viscosurgical devices (OVDs) used during cataract surgery. The study found that the bacteria-derived FIDIAL PLUS OVD was as effective and safe as the animal-derived IAL (R)-F OVD. The research involved 50 patients with bilateral cataract, and the results showed no significant increase in intraocular pressure or adverse effects in either group.
