Abstract
- A study conducted by researchers at Johns Hopkins University aimed to describe the incidence of chronic kidney disease (CKD) and other comorbidities among young adults with perinatally acquired HIV (PHIV) in North America. The study analyzed electronic health records of 375 young adults with PHIV enrolled in routine HIV care. The findings showed a high incidence of diabetes mellitus type 2, hypercholesterolemia, hypertriglyceridemia, hypertension, and CKD among this population. The researchers suggest that earlier screening and intervention may be necessary to address these comorbidities in a timely manner. [Extracted from the article]
