Abstract
- A recent study conducted by researchers at the University of Sydney explores the molecular biology of medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC) and its interaction with the immune system. The study found that MTC is primarily driven by specific pathogenic variants, resulting in a low tumor mutational burden and a limited number of tumor-associated neoantigens. This suggests that immunotherapy may not be effective in treating MTC. The study also highlights the efficacy of targeted tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs) in comparison to multi-kinase inhibitors (MKIs) for MTC treatment. However, the use of TKIs may promote the survival of resistant tumor cells. [Extracted from the article]
