Abstract

Deer 255, a mule deer known for her long-distance migration, died during her annual journey from Wyoming to Idaho. At 10 years old, she had successfully navigated obstacles and predators, and had given birth to seven sets of twins. Her story highlights the endurance and vulnerability of migrating mammals like deer, pronghorn, and elk. While Deer 255's herd mates completed their migration, the need for permanent protection of their migration routes remains. [Extracted from the article]
