Abstract

A report from Cincinnati Children's Hospital discusses the short-term impact of seizures and potential ways to mitigate their burdens. The study conducted a systematic review of articles published between 2017 and 2023 to explore the effects of seizures and the benefits of acute treatments. The research found that seizure emergencies negatively affect the quality of life and daily activities of patients and caregivers, and are associated with physical and financial burdens. Acute treatments were found to not only reduce seizure activity but also to alleviate the short-term burdens of seizures. The study suggests that seizure action plans and acute treatments can improve the well-being of patients and caregivers. [Extracted from the article]
